Activities
The American-Central European Business Association (ACEBA), in collaboration with the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, organized a high-level business mission aimed at enhancing US-Croatia economic relations. The visit commenced with a country briefing led by U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Trey Lyons and the U.S. Embassy Zagreb team, providing valuable insights into the bilateral economic landscape. This was followed by a plenary meeting with Croatia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, H.E. Ante Šušnjar, who emphasized the potential for investment and trade expansion.
Another highlight of the mission was the Life Sciences Dialogue, led by State Secretary Bubaš and attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health, HALMED, and HZZO. Discussions focused on investment opportunities in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, reflecting a growing interest in fostering collaboration in these critical industries. The day concluded with an evening reception hosted by Chargé d’Affaires Trey Lyons, offering a platform for further networking and engagement.
On the second day, companies participated in a series of bilateral meetings with Croatian government officials, resulting in over 15 high-level discussions on trade and investment opportunities. Key sectors of interest included pharmaceuticals, defense, banking, and energy, underscoring the strategic importance of these industries in strengthening economic ties between the two nations. The mission reaffirmed the commitment of both Croatia and the United States to deepening their partnership and creating a more conducive business environment.
The approval of the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA), which would greatly boost commerce and investment between the two countries, was a hot topic. Furthermore, discussions focused on the expansion of the LNG terminal on Krk and Croatia's path towards OECD membership, with strong US backing. American corporations are increasingly interested in Croatia as a promising market, particularly in high-tech and innovation-driven sectors.
